Vanilla has more than one dimension
Vanilla may suggest pastry-like softness, balsamic warmth or woody, smoky depth. An advertised vanilla note therefore cannot describe the whole perfume. Decide whether you want a cushiony texture, clear gourmand sweetness or a drier presence; making that distinction helps your trials become more informative and your eventual choice more closely aligned with expectations.
Notice the partners that change its character
Spices, incense, woods or tobacco accords can move vanilla towards very different atmospheres. Observe their role after the opening and check that the sweetness remains comfortable. Comparing several styles avoids rejecting the whole family after one overly sweet experience, or choosing a woody perfume while expecting the impression of a dessert.
