Describe a wish without prescribing a recipe
When commissioning a perfume, describe sensations, memories and the situations in which you hope to wear it. Explain dislikes too, such as pronounced sweetness, smoke or powdery effects. An open brief gives the perfumer room to create while providing a sufficiently concrete framework for discussing and refining the initial fragrance trials.
Understand the service before attending
A guided workshop, bottle personalisation and an exclusive commission offer different services. Ask what the proposal includes: appointments, revisions, formula records and subsequent orders. If exclusivity matters to you, have the provider explain its precise scope; it does not follow automatically from the use of the words “bespoke perfume” in a description.
